- #Reader
- My new RSS client. It is also .NET-based, thus it tends to eat a bit more memory than I'd like. RSSReader had too many quirks, inspiring me to find something new.
- Azureus
- Probably one of the best bit torrent clients available. Completely useless if you could care less about bit torrent or have no idea what I'm talking about.
- Firefox
- When the browser wars began, I was a Netscape user. IE3 made me switch. Now, I'm using Firefox. Let's face it, I go where the best features are.
- RSSReader
- Not my perfect solution for reading RSS feeds, but it is written in .NET. It seems I'll have to write my own reader if I want all the features I want.
- Trillian
- I hate running multiple chat clients. It seems with every release the things suck up more and more memory. For a developer, every MB counts. While Trillian does not have the smallest footprint, it does consolidate all my chatting into one app.
- µTorrent
- My new BitTorrent client of choice. It has a much smaller memory footprint compared to Azureus and less of the fluff I don't need, making it less of a drain on my resources.
Utilities
- CDBurnerXP Pro
- A very nice CD/DVD burning client. So far, it does everything I need it to do and I didn't have to dump $30 or more on it.
- Notepad2
- We all know notepad is a piece of crap. Notepad2 gives you a plethora of additional features while keeping with the simplicity and smallness of notepad.
- Paint.NET
- A .NET-based paint program. Much better than MSPaint but nothing like Photoshop. As a developer, it's really all I need to quikly manipulate and image.
- PSP Video 9
- A .NET-based utility for managing videos on your PSP. It transcodes videos as well from many popular formats to PSP supported MP4. I would much rather a single client that managed everything, but beggers can't be choosers.
- PureText
- Hands down this is the greatest utility ever. The Windows Clipboard has a nasty tendency to bring along all the RTF formatting when pasting cut text. This little baby let's you paste without the formatting.
- SlickRun
- A great replacement for the run dialog with shortcut features. It's not as thin in the memory department as I would like, but functional nonetheless.
- ZipGenius
- An awesome (and free) alternative to WinZip with support for all the popular compression formats (and some not so popular ones). Also comes with additional utilities to make dealing with files that much sweeter.
